Japanese TEPCO Renewable Power invests in 108 MW Dariali Hydropower Plant

TEPCO Renewable Power, subsidiary of the Japanese energy giant Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO) acquires 31.4% stake in JSC Dariali Energy from Peri LLC. JSC Dariali Energy owns and operates 108 MW hydropower plant in Kazbegi Municipality, Georgia, on the river Tergi (Dariali HPP). As per this transaction, TEPCO Renewable Power becomes one of the owners of Dariali HPP.

 

TEPCO has over 100 years  of experience in power plants development and operation (including thermal, nuclear and renewable). Company’s total annual energy output reaches to 220 billion KWh , which is 17 times more than Georgia’s annual consumption.

 

Utilizing TEPCO’s significant experience and technological “know-how” is very important for Dariali HPP. With the aim to optimize plant’s operation and maintenance, TEPCO plans to involve Japanese experts and engineers in daily activities of the Company. It is strongly believed that TEPCO’s participation will increase the plant’s effectiveness and improve the quality of its operation.

The Company owns and operates 6 hydropower plants in Georgia with the total installed capacity of 150 MW, while the total size of the pipeline projects amounts to 300 MW.
